But, then again . . . . .

Silverburn Path.

I’m posting this on the 12th of November so have forgotten what Herself was doing on this day, though it is possible that she was working. I popped into the community café for a light lunch then visited the bees, but got lost on the way – sometimes I do worry about me – and so took a short cut through the houses where I found the extra, Mad Jock’s wheels. I did try Googling him and the only reference I could find that might relate to him was in the “Midlothian Policing Team Newsletter” where Mad Jock’s Pipe Band had a mention in a piece about the Mayfield and Easthouses Gala Parade. There may, of course, be more than one Mad Jock in the town.

At the bees, I found that two of the colonies were still taking food so I  topped them up, the other two were bedded  down for the winter. While I was at it, I checked the varroa sample trays that have been in place for nearly four weeks while the thymol treatment was being applied. The worst colony had been dropping less than two mites per day, a result that would have made me happy even if this had been the natural death rate rather than the kill rate of the chemical.

On the way home, I stopped at the Silverburn path that starts opposite the Penicuik House car park; I’ve noticed it many times and thought it looked interesting. There were some fungi and a few ancient trees, but this lady walking her cairn terrier claimed today’s blip.
