Good Sports

There is something so much better about amateur sport. Today the North West CycloCross circuit rolled into Otterspool Park. Under 12's, under  21's, women, men, veterans, elite. It hailed and rained; the park became a quagmire. They fell off, got up again, carried their bikes up ridiculously steep muddy slopes and were so appreciative of any support. Riders often said "thanks" when they heard encouragement from those watching, and I even saw one rider shake the hand of a woman spectator to thank her for her support as he was toiling up a hill. 

They gave it all. And afterwards, they shook hands.
