It may not yet be Advent, but Glasgow's all Christmassy already. This is the front of Fraser's, formerly Wylie and Lochhead, always famous for its Christmas displays, which memory tells me took up whole windows with wintery scenes (memory could be faulty - anyone?). The funny thing was that as I looked at the lights through the phone screen, they appeared to be pouring up the building, while to the naked eye they merely seemed to flicker randomly.

In contrast, I have added an extra photo taken from the ferry, looking down the Firth of Clyde towards snowy Arran this morning. My two lives are only an hour apart in normal circumstances, but at times the contrast more closely resembles the number of years they are apart.

It is 42 years since I lived in Glasgow ...
