On the bottom

After getting home from work today, I headed out to Western Springs Lake. Mostly I walked beside the creek, where I saw a number of moderate sized eels swimming along just above the bottom. This one appeared to be resting on the bottom.

My extra is of a group of geese standing at the edge of the lake. They seemed to be intermittently testing the temperature of the water with their beaks. Quite suddenly (about 20 seconds after this photo was taken), they all jumped into the water and paddled serenely out into the middle of the lake.
