Working Queen

A queen bumblebee spreading pollen among the Angelica flowers. There has been an unusually large number of queens this spring. They work from dawn to dusk. I often see them resting on a flower, or leaf, or even on the lawn. Many have come indoors and buzzed on windows. I have become quite skilled in catching them and taking them outside, with all the practice I have had.

In extras is the poppy of the day. The nor’wester has been very gusty today, but not so cold.
