Moon and evening star

A late lunch means a later walk means - at this time of year anyway - returning in near-darkness, falling over imagined bumps in the road and hallucinating with the bright leaves strewn in the gloom. But it also meant this, today - not the pink clouds of yesterday, but the new moon and Venus, close enough to one another to be recognisable, and worth even this rather noisy photo because somehow I managed to capture the shape of the moon.

And I've found out some interesting stuff on the back of this post, about the conjunction of the two in antiquity when it was thought that Venus was a star. You can catch a flavour here.
