Rowing season has ended

Today has been celebrated Finland's national composer Jean Sibelius' 151th anniversary. Sibelius was born in Hämeenlinna on December 8, 1865. During his life, Sibelius composed in Italy, Paris and London, but most of his works were created at his home in Ainola, Järvenpää. Jean and Aino Sibelius had six daughters.

Jean Sibelius died aged 91 in 1957. He was by far the most famous Finn of his time, and perhaps still today - he is widely known for his symphonies and his tone poems, especially Finlandia and the Karelia suite.
