The Lozarithm Lens

Caen Hill (Thursday 22nd December 2016)

Traffic made me give up a trip to Devizes last Friday afternoon, probably caused by Christmas shopping madness, so I set off in the morning for my second attempt. There was a bit of a hold-up in the town centre but I got my groceries bought and travelled onwards to Caen Hill.

I spotted the cygnet straight away, preening beside the Caen Hill Moorings near the café. The light was beautiful and I took a batch of pictures and then had a ten-minute chat with a lady from the Canal & River Trust who was fundraising by the lock bridge. I didn't see the parent swans but doubtless they were around nearby.

Lozarhythm of the Day:
Radiohead - Daydreaming (2016)
It seems to be obligatory to choose Bowie's final album, Blackstar, as the best of the year, but I was somewhat lukewarm about several of the tracks. I haven't heard enough of all the releases to have a definitive choice, but I did think A Moon Shaped Pool was Radiohead's best for some years. I particularly liked the orchestral arrangements by Jonny Greenwood, realised by the London Contemporary  Orchestra conducted by Hugh Brunt, who are evident on this track, the second single taken from the album.
