Sunny Sunday morning

Although MrM and I both have a lot to do today (understatement!), we decided that, as it's Sunday and the weather forecast was good, we'd go for a walk anyway.

So, after breakfast, we headed south to Branton Lakes for a short, slow walk with Louie. The blip shows the view across the lake to Hedgehope Hill (under cloud, centre of the shot). Then on to Alnwick, as MrM needed something from the DIY shop. Eventually we drove to to Old Bewick to walk up to Blawearie cairns on Old Bewick Moor. Near a derelict cottage  is a pre-Bronze Age burial mound with several cist graves and a cremation site within the remains of a kerb circle. A very interesting area!

It was a pleasant walk up to the cairns, but the weather deteriorated rapidly and by the time we stopped for refreshment the views across the moors had disappeared into the mist and the drizzle started! Never mind, it was good to get out and we shall go back to look for some of the other cist graves nearby on the moor.

Now to finish off the final drawing for those tailpieces...
