Life through the lens...

Winter sun

We woke to fog and drizzle, which soon turned to rain. However by lunchtime the sky had cleared and out came the sun. Not for long though, and the dull wet weather has returned. Still we haven't had any rain for ages, and it is much milder.

Our Saturday fish man is back after his three weeks holiday in Goa.
So it is back to our usual Saturday night fish.
Poached smoked ( undyed) haddock, with poached eggs, followed by steamed treacle sponge and custard.

I know it is the Chinese New Year, but I am not a fan of Chinese food.
I was spoilt, when as a child of 12, my dad took me for my first Chinese meal to a restaurant in Soho.  What an experience, and I thought it was wonderful, Have never had any Chinese food that tasted so good since.

Made a very yummy ginger marmalade cake this afternoon.
We had a piece with our afternoon tea, and then had to have another.
Very moreish!
Many thanks to ladypop who mentioned it in her blip a few days ago, and then sent me the recipe. Will certainly be on  our favourite cake list.
(See extra photo.)

Hope to go out walking again tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a fine day.
