Big Boy on the mainline

Sometimes ya just gotta run some trains. This is a model of the Union Pacific Big Boy- one of the largest steam locomotives ever made. The model is by Athearn, and has a DCC sound decoder. Pulls like ......... a train!. On my small layout I limit it to about 20 cars as that is the length of my storage and passing sidings. No problem.

Also for this blip I have finished the rip-rap of stones along the mainline here. This will allow me to finally paint the fascia and shelve below. I am thinking of using a satin black to set off the layout. Used brown on the Sn3 and it was OK but I think black might be better.

I have also been working on the highway and city center. Have painted the asphalt and installed the curbs. I will blip this when I get it all glued down and painted.

I had two switch boards go bad so am waiting for replacements. But - I am close to fixing the Sn3 door I had to remove when we got new carpeting. I promised myself to finish the stuff underway now before changing focus.
