Sharp-shinned Hawk

This was a first for me today.  I looked out the kitchen window and there was an unfamiliar hawk sitting near one of the feeders.  When I pointed it out to my husband, he said he didn't see any hawks, because it is significantly smaller than the Red-shouldered Hawk that is a more frequent visitor.

In extras I placed a photo especially for Maura.  Her photos of Pileated Woodpeckers gave me the idea to add a log feeder to my bird dining options.  This is a Red-bellied Woodpecker, but I'm hoping the Pileateds will eventually find it.
