Looking down

We left Udawalawe after breakfast and travelled by car to Ella. It’s up in the hills, in tea country. When we arrived we could see a beautiful view of the hills and valley from the guest house terrace. An hour later the clouds started rolling in. The mornings are clear, it gets progressively more cloudy throughout the afternoon and by the evening the town is enveloped in cloud.

It was getting quite cloudy when we set out to walk to Little Adam’s Peak, a hill on the other side of town. It was about a 45 minute walk and by the time we got to the top everything was covered in cloud. The cloud drifted and sometimes the surrounding hills were visible, mostly not. It was a bit eerie. This photo is from when the cloud cleared the most and is looking straight down over the steep drop into the valley.
