All Puffed Up

A good look around Beverley Minster this morning.

It is one of my favourite churches. Only a parish church, it is bigger (and more impressive) than some English cathedrals. And the wealth of medieval sculpture is just amazing. In the 13th and 14th centuries it must have been a real centre of music, there are fine sculpted characters everywhere playing ancient instruments or singing.

We learnt that filming has just finished in the Minster for the second series of Victoria. We hadn't seen the first series, but it is playing both Westminster Abbey, and the Palace of Westminster.

A different kind of music on the next leg of our trip. We have passed lots of rook colonies, I just love the sound they make when they return in early Spring. And on arrival at the Mill, the sound of dippers singing in the brook below. The song is at just the right pitch to be heard over the constant sound of rushing water. I love this time of year.
