Ardvreck Castle

Early start and caught the first ferry over to Gills Bay. A bit rough but the bacon roll settled the stomach and chatting with friend's daughter, Jemima, helped. Not seen her for 36 years and it was great fun hearing all about her life and adventures.

Wonderful sunshine as we drove west past beautiful sandy beaches and through mountainous scenery to Durness. Followed the road south past Kylestrome and parked up for the night by Ardvreck Castle. The Assynt area is really outstandingly beautiful. We aren't used to such amazing dramatic views at every twist in the road and it was stunning.  Plenty of snow still on the mountains, and plenty of deer about too.
Ollie has settled in to camper van living and we are just putting on all our layers before getting into our sleeping bags for what may well be a very chilly night!
