Kanazawa Leaf

The production of gold leaf was supposedly introduced to Japan along with Buddhism in the 1500's and today Kanazawa produces 98% of Japanese gold leaf production.

The city of Kanazawa has the reputation of being one of the greatest cities in Japan for applied fine arts due in part to its climate and geography.

The gold leaf makes a very pretty addition to the design on this lovely Japanese lacquer jewelery box.
