Basking

Great day...our rest day for the week.
Slept well then up and out to drive to West Virginia to their cabin. Stopped for some supplies and a huge breakfast (extra) then up to the cabin. Absolutely stunning forest location on a ridge with amazing views. We headed out to the deck and lapped up the sunshine and relaxed on the sofas and swinging day bed (extra) and chatted. Later in the afternoon V&I practised taking bird pictures as the little nuthatches and etc all queued up to get to the feeder, as well as the turkey buzzards and eagles flying above (none worked very well hence no extras of them!) then we headed for a drive to surrounding ridges and through the George Washington national forest. All oaks and other deciduous trees and not yet in leaf, but lots of red buds/blossom scattered around (you can just see the blush of the red bud trees in front of the deck). Scrambled up to a rocky outcrop (extra) with much hilarity navigating the climb, then home for delicious BBQd chicken tikka and Indian sides.
Shared photos and stories in the evening then bed. Lovely!
