High Steward

Arrived in Largs at lunchtime today and already it was buzzing with activity on the final weekend of the Viking festival. Highlight of the afternoon was a display from the RAF Typhoon Display Team which sent an aircraft to perform along the front.

Back to my folks for tea before heading out to the Party at the Pencil re-enactment of the 1263 Battle of Largs followed by the ceremonial burning of a Viking longboat and ended with a fireworks display.

This chap is Alexander Stewart, the 4th High Steward of Scotland, who led the Scottish army against the Norwegian forces sent by Hakkon IV that landed at Largs (I blipped the full history of the battle previously).

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
