In Search Of The White Stuff!

When we landed yesterday at Heraklion Airport, Crete, we were quite surprised to see some snow capped mountains - not what you expect on a sunshine island.

With the weather being a pleasant 20C but overcast, we decided to go in search of the white stuff. Not quite as easy as it sounds as Crete is very mountainous with roads and dirt tracks all over the place, many not named! After a couple of hours of bendy roads and dirt tracks not far from the village of Tilisos I spotted Mount Ida and took the blipfoto.

Some friends flew in late last night and are staying in Elounda (near East Coast). They obviously didn't see the snow and didn't believe me when I said I was searching for it!  I sent a photo as proof!
