Tiffany Lamps Displayed ...

... on the the New-York Historical Society's newly reopened fourth floor--truly dazzling!  Our main objective was a intriguing show of bird images: ca. a dozen full-size watercolor models by Audubon for his huge "double-elephant-edition" of the Birds of America (1828-36) juxtaposed with another dozen much smaller watercolors of similar birds from the 16th century, at the dawn of ornithology.  The concept may sound contrived, but it was fascinating.

We had lunch with our niece Laura and her husband Eric, and dinner with our long-time friend Cynthia; her partner died suddenly in March, and it was the first time we had met since; it was sad, but restorative for her, it seemed.
