Shapes in the forest

These pines are rather gnarly and deformed. Due to their proximity to the Atlantic, they have to contend with the strong winds, especially in the winter storms which probably explains their contorted shapes.

(I have to admit I did indulge in some photoshop trickery to exaggerate the contrast a little)
