Mothers' Day Lunch

Mother's Day lunch at Rustic, the restaurant at Francis Ford Coppola's winery overlooking the Alexander Valley in Geyserville. We joke that his place  is a bit like Disneyland because it has a big swimming pool with a row of little cabañas which can be rented for the day, a bar next to the pool,  bocce ball court,  culinary gardens, lobby full of movie memorabilia,  indoor bar and the restaurant. I've put a few pictures in extras.I especially liked the one of OilMan assessing the covers for the lettuce beds.

The restaurant, we were informed by our waiter has the 'only Argentinian grill in California' and it was right behind us. ..good placement as it turns out because it was a bit chilly and the open coals kept us warm.

We went with another family...a friend of Dana's since their boys, who are exactly the same ages, were little, We've gotten to know her mother over the years. The only person who doesn't appear in the picture is Peter who still has his head down over his rack of lamb  at the end of the table. Will was here this weekend but had to go back to school first thing this morning. Thanks to OilMan for taking the main shot and managing to get almost everyone to look his way....

A spattering of rain put an end to the mothers and daughters vs. sons bocce ball game which was just getting into full swing, but it was still a lovely day.

We're now back home wondering if there is any way we can manage another meal today... poached eggs or a bowl of cereal at most.
