Great Crested Grebe

The Bank Holiday Monday weather was cooler and grey, and by lunchtime it had started to rain, which at least watered in some of my recent plantings. The dull weather allowed me to catch up with some paperwork, but I sneaked out for an hour or so in the morning to check the route of a walk I'm leading next Saturday.  On my way round I came across a pair of nesting Great Crested Grebes sitting on two eggs. This is the female, who slipped into the water when she saw me, so I took a couple of quick shots and then left her in peace.
