Weeping beech

Today I was botanising again just north of Folkingham, mostly on road verges as the few public footpaths in the area traverse boring arable fields where every competing wild flower is sprayed out of existence. The single most magnificent plant I came across was this ancient weeping beech in the churchyard at Walcot. A shady hideaway on a hot summer's day, sheltering a solitary gravestone.
