Sweet Peas

We've finally reached that point in the year when I try to live up to my blip name. I picked the first 50 stems of this year's sweet peas last night (as well as the first pound of strawberries!) and this is one of the bunches. These are from the sweet pea bed at the allotment which is slightly more advanced than the bed in the garden at home. The plants have suffered from a warm dry spring leading to quite short flower stems and typically three, rather than four or five, flowers per stem. With seven weeks to go I'm hoping that the ones at home will be of exhibition quality. Click on the #lathyrusodoratus to see some of my previous year's blipped sweet peas.
