A Rare Visitor

We had a surprise and rare visitor to our garden nut feeder this morning - a woodpecker (male, Lesser Spotted I think). EDIT - BlackTulip has identified it as a juvenile Greater Spotted, sex unknown)

He spent ages hanging on there and feeding on the nuts.

Quite a long way away and shot through a (dirty) kitchen window does not make for the best of shots - but an amazing sight nonetheless. Please excuse the fading pyracantha blossom in the background.

I had a little walk on my own later in the morning (dog walking done at 05:30!) and found a little piece of scrubland with loads of little wild flowers on. The best of my shots are here.

Also walked along the river at Tadcaster and the weir has almost disappeared as the water level is so high. A while to go before there is danger of flooding though. I spotted some logs and debris 'trapped' in the currents at the weir - see extra -  they were just spinning around unable to get free.
