Cod Beck Reservoir

A lovely blue-sky morning, so we decided to pay the small fee to enable us to leave the caravan on the site until late afternoon, rather than having to rush away before midday.

After breakfast we made our way up through the woods and walked by Cod Beck Reservoir, named after Cod Beck, the small river which runs into it. The name has nothing to do with cod fish but is most probably derived from the local dialect word 'cawd', meaning cold. Quite a long walk for Louie, but he seemed to enjoy it.

Then a drive to Thirsk, a very pleasant town, for a wander round and lunch. Louie was with us, so we sat at a pavement table outside a small cafe and watched the world go by as we ate. Lovely.

Back to Osmotherley to hitch up the caravan and drive home. A good weekend, though it seemed an awful lot of effort to take the caravan away for just two nights...
