GLAIKIT GILLIEPEROUS revisited

A Doric A-Z: G revisited

An occasional A-Z of the Doric, the dialect spoken in the North-East of Scotland which is rich in words and phrases associated with the land and the sea.

GLAIKIT GILLIEPEROUS: A stupid, irresponsible, rough and ready fool.

A glaikit gillieperous is the kind of person who drives out to our village, parks in the beach car park, enjoys the view, and then throws their offsprings' empty juice bottles and a full and steaming disposable nappy onto the grass. this all within 15 metres of the litter bins. I despair, totally!

Extra, extra! Meanwhile, in the estuary a strange object was cruising up river. Was it a sea monster or perhaps a Russian mini-submarine probing our defences? We have it in our sights!
