The Old Forge (Friday 23rd June 2017)

Friday is Gardening Day and thankfully it was cooler again, only 20 degrees. As the outdoor tap had been renewed I decided to use it to hose down and wash the car, but when I had finished I was asked by Refna if I had actually made it dirtier than it had been before. It did look very streaky and the dirt seemed to have been rearranged rather than removed. Furthermore I'd managed to destroy an ancient hose in the process as it had sprung a couple of leaks inside its housing. Back to the car wash for me next time.
She was at work cutting back two trees which were obscuring the view of my sycamore maple, particularly as seen from my study upstairs, as shown here afterwards. The branches had regrown remarkably quickly having been pruned a few months ago and need to be reduced further with the aid of a chain saw at some point to let more light in.
