A vocal tribute

Yesterday I went to Wolverhampton to the funeral of a cousin's wife - a lovely lady that sadly died aged only 58. It was a packed celebration of her life including an exhibition of her art work (extra photo). She had almost finished a degree in fine art when she died and they have just heard that she's been awarded her BA due to her continually high marks which was a lovely thought. She had been trying to persuade her husband to take part in an open mic with his friend on guitar but he lacked the confidence. He found it today by singing a Beatles song for her.

After sitting in a layby to pass time until a gig at Newport in the evening, I turned up at 7.00pm to carry my equipment up two flights of stairs (with a little help) and set up. We were playing for a ceilidh after a conference and dancing was due to start at 8.30pm. However, the after dinner speeches went on a long time and they didn't arrive in the hall until 10.15! We spent the time constructively by playing tunes which is something that we always enjoy doing.

It's a long drive back and it was almost 2.00am when I got to bed.
