Back Blipped

Saturday morning turned out to be grey and threatened rain.  We road to the Falkirk Wheel as Mark had never seen this marvel of engineering before, and his take on it is here.

We then set off on the motorway heading for Rochdale and my Aunty Mary and Uncle Peter.  Mary is Mum's last remaining sibling, and in many ways reminds me a lot of my Mum so I was keen to take the opportunity to visit while we were passing.  My cousin John, their son, was in the country and took the opportunity to join us as well - much hilarity ensued.  John is 8 months older than me, and always seemed more like a brother than a cousin. 

After dinner we decided to walk to the local pub for a quick drink.  As it was raining John asked to borrow a hat.  His Dad, now in his early 80's produced the fine piece of headwear that you can see John modelling here. The rather fierce look he is directing at yours truly is a bit of an act, although I think he was keen to make sure that I did not repeat my fisheye portait ....
