The Golden Hind

It just shows that it pays to look up sometimes! We were in London today for the City Race (orienteering) which grows in popularity year on year. This year there were 1300+ competitors and over 200 of those were foreigners, some of whom had come over for the day on Eurostar! The assembly and start were close to Waterloo Bridge and we ran straight out from the start into the Temple Buildings complex. We always recce the start and finish before a race and we spotted this very beautiful weathervane on top of one of the Temple buildings near the finish.

I made a significant error arriving under a bridge when I should have been on top of it and then missed the staircase that would have taken me up, doing a loop of buildings instead. That meant that Marcia beat me today but I still came in ahead of Lynden so the rivalry continues. Tony would have been in around 4th place on his course if he hadn't missed an alleyway, it's what makes the difference on these fast paced street races!
