Gillespie House

Gillespie House is to be found in South Street Elie. The doorway is dated 1682 with the initials AG & CS and is just one of the historic buildings in the street having been the home of Alexander Gillespie (skipper) and his wife Christine who were married in 1663. In 1860 the house was demolished to allow the round to be widened - only the doorway was preserved. The house remained in the family for 7 generations until 1911.
