All happening at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park...

...Museum of the year 2014...
I count myself lucky to live only 20 minutes away from the park, which is near Wakefield. We visit often, and when I was considering the current Blip Challenge I decided that it is THE place we ALWAYS  take visitors!
There are over 80 “permanent” sculptures to see in the open air – and some of my personal favourites are Barbara Hepworth’s  Family of Man , Andy Galsworthy’s Sheepfold, Antony Gormley’s   One and Other and Jonathan Borofsky’s Molecule Man
And then there are visiting sculptors every season - my favourite is still Jaume Plensa in 2011 – who usually leave at least one piece behind in the park. The present visitors include Ai Wei Wei ( main blip ), Tony Cragg and Zak Ove.
There are also superb exhibitions in a series of indoor galleries – for example Not Vital in the Underground Gallery  last year.
Even if you’re not into sculpture at all, there are lovely walks up on to the ridge and round the two lakes. The daffodils make an incredible show in Spring, as do the bluebells in the woods in April/May, and The Poppies even visited from London!
We’re also proud of  The Hepworth  - Museum of the Year 2017 - so if you would like to see more from either place, and from a variety of blippers, just use the tags below. Then you can plan a visit for real ;)
Extra is a new Jaume Plensa head, near the stepping stones.
