Diamond Ring

A very early start meant that we managed to beat the crowds to our eclipse venue in Victor, Idaho - except that the crowds never materialised.  We were  in a big field which could have accommodated hundreds of cars, but there were only about 50. You had to feel a bit sorry for the organisers as they had gone to a lot of trouble to set up all the facilities, including a huge hospitality marquee.

On the plus side, we had plenty of time to set up, practice and adjust settings. Totality was an amazing experience; incredibly dramatic, intense and eerie.

This shot was taken at the very end of totality, moments before I had to put the filter back on. I'm just amazed by what I was able to capture, as a second or two later and I would have missed this. For me, it's literally a one (bracketed) shot wonder.
