Goûter

One of my fondest memories as a kid was the ritual of the mid-afternoon goûter  (snack). 

Sometimes it was served at school (usually a baguette with butter and milk chocolate bars -- yeah: the good old days!); sometimes, my grandma would pick me up from school and when she did, we always stopped at a local patisserie. She had as big a sweet tooth as I did and our favorite dessert was something called a torche marrons.  

These two kids and their mom reminded me of those moments today :)
