but not to fly! I waited for ages. It looks to me as though he/she has breeding plumage.

There's much roadworks going on near me at present. Not only has the road above the house been dug up all week, but the road past the cliffs, which is the road from Sumner to Christchurch, has been disrupted for weeks. New pipes are being installed, waste water and fresh water, to replace the earthquake damaged piping. It's going to make a big difference when it's all finished. I believe they're working all night!

I think that Spring arrives officially tomorrow! I hope I've got that right.
