Time for tea

On a whim, possibly influenced by WalkingMarj's blip, I decided to bake some scones as a treat for S on his return from a tiresome errand in Carcassonne. I timed it well as I had just put the last one on the cooling rack when he walked in. Cup of tea, cherry jam, cream -- lovely!

I used to make scones fairly often when we lived in the UK, but until recently I hadn't made any for a long time, and I seemed to have lost the knack. But I remembered that I used to rely on Katie Stewart's Times cookery book for this type of thing, so I used her recipe and it worked very well. One good thing about scones is that within 20 minutes of deciding to make them, you can have them on the table, one of the quickest teatime treats.

This will also fit with the What's your hobby? challenge, assuming Michele doesn't want dozens of photos of cameras ... baking is definitely a favourite hobby of mine (anyone else watching the new GBBO??).
