But, then again . . . . .

Penicuik View.

I felt fit enough to venture out with the club today. Unusually, I didn’t join them at the start but waited for them to come through Roslin; the plan was to get a Blip of them as they came off the cycle path but, being a disorganised shower, they didn’t make a pleasing picture and I needed to work quickly to pack away the camera and tag onto the end of the group. However, I did like the picture, I took while I was waiting, of the man walking his dog – the lazy way; it brought back memories of the days when I used to bring our lurcher, Meg, down here like this – I used to clock her at thirty miles an hour (down hill & tail wind) - me going flat out and her with a few more gears in hand; would that I could do that now.

There was also a couple with their dogs and a ball, I took about fifty pictures of the dogs – some of them actually including the ball – and include a rather balletic pose as the second extra.

Having joined the ride, I went with them as far as Peebles where they stopped for lunch and after a quick coffee and a bun made my way home. They were going up The Granites, a road I love, but I don’t think I’m ready for that just yet. I stopped just before Penicuik for the Blip from a sheep field; it’s a view that I’ve always thought would make a nice picture and the sun was just about bright enough to liven up the scene a little. It’s an isolated spot where you're hardly aware either of the busy road a hundred yards behind or the sprawling town just to the left. I just had time to get home and have a bath before strolling down to meet the rest of the crowd in the village for coffee.

Thanks to everyone who dropped by yesterday and left the lovely comments, stars and hearts.
