Is He the Culprit?

I pulled into the driveway after a doctor appointment and found this handsome visitor in the yard.  He wasn't afraid of me at all (I guess he felt pretty safe with those antlers on board) so I had time to run in and get my camera.  He's lying down in my extra.  Earlier I had noticed damage to the trunk of a young cherry tree.  Either this visitor, or one of his competitors, has been rubbing his antlers on it.  He's a gorgeous animal, but I would really like to see that flowering tree survive.  I've given up trying to intervene.  Mother Nature will have to decide.
