Party Time

A last fling before winter.

This bank of ivy was a real magnet for a multitude of insects. By far the most common were wasps who were celebrating the end of child-rearing duties by partying on nectar.

Next most common were hoverflies - particularly the honeybee mimics - they were partying on the pollen.

Just a single bee was present (a queen bumblebee).

By far the most obvious party-goers were TEN red admiral butterflies.
I liked this one best against a rare patch of blue sky.
