A Most Interesting Morning

I decided to go to Tivoli Village this morning before it got busy and do some shooting. There are interesting colors and details all around the area.

As I arrived I saw that there is a mothers group that gets together for yoga and then walking with the babies. So much for not being busy. I went in the opposite direction of where they were going. I wandered around for a while and thought I had gotten enough for a good blip today.

On my way back to the car a gentleman was sitting drinking coffee and commented on my camera, so I stopped to chat with him. In our conversation I asked him if he was the artist that was featured in the Summerlin View insert in the paper this morning....and yes he is!

He invited me into the studio to look at his work and we continued to chat for over an hour. His work with wine bottles came after falling and breaking his foot. Not being able to do his usual work, someone asked him if he would monogram a wine bottle for them and his new work was born out of that.

He showed me where all the magic takes place and posed for me, showing how he had to work with the broken foot. (first extra) The second extra is the remnants of a cigar he enjoyed and he is slowly spraying it with acrylic spray so it will be forever immortalized and several of the decanters that he has made.

As I was getting ready to leave, he took a trumpet from one of the displays and started playing for me. What an interesting man he is!

If you want to see more of his work and learn more about him, his website Mis En Bouteille is interesting.

He encouraged me to take all the pictures I wanted. Most artists would not allow that, not wanting their work to be shown in a bad way. He did not seem to be worried about that at all.

I am grateful for whatever motivated me to be at that spot, at that time, to meet this delightful man.
