Post Cards

It was a truly miserable day – the result of Hurricane Ophelia, and it just seemed to be dark all day.  I fell when I was running yesterday, nothing serious, but awoke feeling stiff and with a big bruise on my leg.  I had no desire to go running today.  We pottered for a while and I eventually braved it out and went to the bakers.

We had planned to go to St Andrews, so we eventually headed off.  We parked by the West Sands, and walked along a deserted, and wind swept beach to town, with BB describing the weather.  Dismal, dreich, depressing, and damp were a few of the words that BB came up with.  At least it wasn’t too cold.  We hung out in a couple of bookshops before heading for lunch – pizza as requested by BB.  We then pottered in another couple of shops before heading to the castle, only to find it had just closed (3.30pm in the winter).  We wandered down to the harbour and by the cathedral, stopping off for some provisions on our way back to the car – we walked along the beach again (see extra).

The drive back to Crail was not nice – heavy rain and fog – visibility was terrible.  It was good to get back home.  We watched a Narnia film.

I love this old sign outside a lovely shop in St Andrews.
