Doe A Deer

I spent the day in the Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield with Project Phoenix. The town has a proud aviation tradition, being the home to De Havilland and I was amazed by how warmly we were received by many who spoke fondly of planes and flying. Plenty were happy to put their names to our petition to raise Panshanger aerodrome from the ashes. I carved a pumpkin with the project logo and that made a talking point with the children so that I could approach their parents about the possible reopening.

By the time I got home the light was fading. I was in the middle of our field shooting the moon when I heard branches cracking. How wonderful! A speckled fallow deer doe and her dark fawn appeared. She stood and stared at me for a few seconds, which is just as well as I had inappropriate settings and focus point. I enjoyed Blue Planet but it's nature close to home that really does it for me. :)

Today's poem is The Author's Epitaph, Made By Himself by Sir Walter Raleigh.  http://www.cieliterature.com/the-authors-epitaph/

Ashes to ashes .... It was thought that this was written on the eve of his death but actually it is the last stanza of one of Raleigh's love poems.
