The Edge of the Wold

Letting off steam

Wifie was spending the day in Haworth today doing Qi Gong, and so Gus and I decided to go with her. We had a look at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway at Oxenhope. I discovered that the key frustration of a steam engine photographer is the tendency for people to step into your photograph at the very moment you are taking it. This was one of the few that wasn't photobombed by anyone other than the ticket collector.

After that we went for a walk to the Bronte Falls and beyond over moorland in less than clement conditions of high wind and flying rain. It was good to go somewhere different to the usual haunts, though poor Gus was not enjoying the rain and the muddy path.

Dr T tells me that this engine is normally kept at Ramsbottom on the East Lancs railway, and is currently on loan to the K & W Valley Railway. It's a Stanier Black Five.

Backblipped on 1 November 2017.
