Wonderwall

On a stroll around the small town of Newport/Tredraeth I came upon two men looking over at the foundations of a new house being built in what used to be an old-fashioned kitchen garden. The wall around the plot was newly mended and topped with smooth round stones and larger upstanding ones as local tradition dictates.I ran my hand over them appreciatively then caught the eye of the guy with the beard whose unseasonable sleeveless vest revealed brawny shoulders. 'Fine wall' I remarked 'Did you build it?' He agreed he had, at least he'd topped it off using the original stones and some new ones from the beach. I complimented him on his work and asked if I could take a photo. The guy in the cap stepped out of shot but was persuaded to step back in and here they are, two men with a new/old stone wall, a  scene that would not have been very much different 100 years ago.
