Mad As A Wet Hen

This confused little lady was wandering around on the lawn this morning in the pouring rain.  She seemed to be clueless as to how to get to the other side of the fence, and spent a good half hour or so stalking back and forth, peering through the wire screen on the fence, and looking utterly at a loss!

I think she is a pheasant, but perhaps she is a grouse?  I photographed her through the mud room window, then as soon as I (very quietly) opened the door to get a clearer shot, she instantly became airborne and flapped her way across the field to the edge of the woods.
