Timaru's local landmark building, the Hydro Grand hotel/pub, was demolished today.
It was built in 1912, and was in a total state of disrepair, having been empty for the last few years.
Mario and I were there taking photos from just after 7am, when demolition began, until about 2.30pm, when it was all over.
A lot of the town's folk turned out to see the spectacle, and let out a loud cheer when the dome on the turret came tumbling down.

There's more photos in the extras, including what it looked like this morning, before demolition began.
