Sky, sea and light - Mull

I spent the day on Mull, holding a surgery, meeting people involved in the proposed buy out of the island of Ulva and then opening two new houses at Ulva Ferry.

The community in that part of Mull was threatened by the closure of the local primary school back in 2010 - in fact I blipped about it on my first visit. But they decided that decline was not inevitable and the new houses are a tangible symbol of that determination - talked about from that time and finally achieved by a great deal of collaborative working.

It was a huge privilege to be asked to undertake the formal opening and one of my extra photos shows the plaque. The other records our official photographer for the day - fellow blipper Treshish whom I first met on that original visit.

It is also a huge privilege to represent such amazing places - like that shown in my main picture which was taken looking towards Iona (on the horizon) and with the edge of Ulva on the right.

The showers blew in on a chill wind all day but the visibility and the light was astonishing.
