If you can't beat them...

Cock Pheasant

After a good number of weeks without any sign of the pheasants suddenly they are back.  At first we just saw a cock but now the peak count has risen to 6.  Unusually the 6 was (or appeared to be) 3 pairs.  The normal situation is the hens visit as an all females group and the cocks as single birds.  Occasionally in spring there will be a couple of cocks eyeing one another up and sparing.

I was fortunate to have seen the pheasant during one of the less rainy spells in the day.  The rest of the day was wet wet wet.  Clickychick was out at a seminar at a local garden centre, as she left I jokingly asked her if she had her wellies, to which she laughed.  On her way home she stopped and rang asking if I would need to bring her wellies out to her (the garden floods).  Fortunately the garden was dry which is more than could be said of the local roads- floods in all sorts of places.
